Ukrainian feed barley prices are under pressure from minimal export demand and the suspension of grain-terminal operations at Black Sea ports amid continued missile and UAV attacks in the Odesa region. Traders are currently sourcing mainly through Danube ports, where export indications stand at UAH 7,000–7,800/t ($140–150/t) delivered.
Ukraine exported only 61,000 tonnes of barley during the first 22 days of August, down from 247,000 tonnes a year earlier. Season-to-date exports reached 360,000 tonnes, against 504,000 tonnes in the comparable period and a full-season forecast of 2.5–3 million tonnes.
In contrast, international demand has strengthened. Tunisia’s ODC purchased 75,000 tonnes of feed barley in its 27 August tender at an average $301.70/t C&F, versus $265.45/t for 25,000 tonnes bought in April. Reduced Ukrainian and Russian supplies lifted Middle Eastern delivered indications to $280–290/t, supporting EU export opportunities.
EU barley exports fell 51% year-on-year to 1.14 million tonnes by 23 August, while French feed barley rose 5.6% month-on-month to €214.50/t FOB Rouen.
