South American rapeseed production could increase to 1.6 million tonnes in the 2026/27 marketing year, compared with 1.1 million tonnes in 2025/26 and 0.7 million tonnes in 2024/25, according to Oil World forecasts.
Uruguay is expected to contribute the largest expansion, with rapeseed area reaching 340,000 hectares and production forecast at a record 600,000–620,000 tonnes. Brazil has increased planted area to 370,000 hectares and expects output of 600,000 tonnes, up significantly from 343,000 tonnes last year.
Brazil is also expanding domestic processing. Rapeseed oil exports could reach 50,000–80,000 tonnes in 2026/27, following a first relatively large shipment of 6,000 tonnes in July.
The projected increase adds a developing source of rapeseed and rapeseed oil supply to global markets. For European and Black Sea traders, the main relevance is potential additional competition in oilseed and vegetable-oil flows, although the forecast remains subject to production results and export execution.
