Bunge and CM Holding Gain Control of Grain Terminal at Poland’s Gdynia Port

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of joint control over Baltic Grain Terminal (BTZ) by Bunge Global SA and CM Holding A/V under the EU Merger Regulation, according to World Grain. The terminal is located at the Polish port of Gdynia on the Baltic Sea.

The companies plan to modernize BTZ and significantly expand its handling capacity under a 30-year concession agreement concluded through their subsidiaries with the port authority. The Commission determined that the transaction would not raise competition concerns because of its limited impact on the markets in which the parties operate.

For commodity traders, the deal is relevant to northern European grain logistics and potential export flows through the Baltic. Greater capacity at Gdynia could improve access to seaborne outlets for Polish and potentially regional grain, although the source provides no timetable, investment amount or specific volume target. The immediate effect on physical trade is therefore uncertain, but the transaction strengthens Bunge’s and CM Holding’s long-term presence in a strategic EU port.
